How To Easily Change Negative Attitudes and Acquire The Right Mindset
62Most people are programmed to negativity ever since they were born. We hear our parent’s problems. We hear the news every day. We see accidents happen. Even our own experiences of failure programmed us to avoid these bad things from happening to us.
The worst thing about this “negativity program” is we are taught by our very parents to avoid these worst circumstances. They tell us that we shouldn’t do that in order to avoid this, we shouldn’t go with someone in order to avoid this, etc. They tell us every single day that the world is a very harsh one and bad things can happen to everyone at any time and any place.
Most people don’t know that these “thoughts of negativity” shapes our attitude and personalities. For example, if you listen to a sad music you can relate to, don’t you feel sad also? You remember the sad feelings and experiences you have had in the past. It’s the same with everything you hear and see daily. What you see and hear, especially if repeated frequently, can shape your attitude.
If you tend to watch dramas and uncivilized shows, then you will most likely form attitudes and personalities related to those. However, if you watch and read educational materials, then you will most likely ingrain those in your personality and thoughts.
If you are struggling to change your thoughts and bad attitudes, then you should definitely try these tips of mine. Changing your perception of the circumstances as well as your perception of yourself for the better can be easily done. This is due to technology and the wide availability of self-help materials.
- Write down everything you want to be. Make your list as long as possible. It doesn’t matter what it is. Write them in a positive way. Don’t place negative words. For example, if you want to stop drinking soda, don’t say “I don’t drink soda.” What you should say is “I only drink water and healthy beverages.” See the difference? Saying “soda” makes you remember about soda all the time. In addition, saying “don’t” is programming yourself with a negative word. Another example would be saying “I will finish my work early and within the deadline” rather than saying “I will stop procrastinating.”
- After you have made a long list. Then it’s time to double check this list. Make sure that no negative words are present. Think about everything you want to change about yourself. Write down the things you have missed.
- Then, try to number your list. It is best to group the related affirmations. For example, you should group the sentences regarding your eating habits. Then, you should place the sentences regarding your study or work habits in another group.
- Then, you should find a recorder for you to record yourself while reading these sentences aloud. You can use almost any device possible. You can use a sound recorder, a computer with a microphone, a laptop, and even your cellphone.
- After you have found a device to use, record your voice while speaking the sentences aloud. Saying the sentences aloud with EMOTIONS is a must. A dull, monotonous recording wouldn’t be effective. Don’t forget to save the file afterwards especially if you are using a computer or a laptop.
- Finally, use this newly created “self-help” material of yours. Play them repeatedly while you are doing simple tasks, or if you have spare time. It is best to play these recordings repeatedly while you are sleeping. This will program your subconscious to absorb the material.
Do this for a minimum of 30 days. You could do this for a lifetime if possible, making changes to sentences and recordings as needed. Don’t forget to watch yourself for negative behaviors and thoughts you might be doing and/or thinking. Put your head up high and be confident. These recurring thoughts will gradually manifest in your behaviors and perceptions.
